WHO FOR:

Anyone designing and planning water treatment, routine sampling, testing, and inspections of these systems, including service providers.  Those who are considering managing their own water quality management or checking outside contractors. Those who are managerially responsible for closed systems (including managers, owners, facilities managers and water treatment account and technical managers).  


PRE-COURSE PREPARATION:

Delegates with no chemistry background, to secondary school level or above, should complete W252 Water Treatment Chemistry Foundation before attending this course.  Reading BSRIA BG29 and BG50 is advantageous but not essential. Students are encouraged to bring water quality reports to be discussed during the course.

 

 

OBJECTIVES:

  • To give delegates an understanding of what a closed system is, how it is designed and how that design impacts on water quality management.
  • To give insight on the potential problems with closed systems and the various approaches to managing them.
  • To explain the importance of the British Standard BS8552 and the use of BSRIA guidance documents BG29 and BG50.
  • To provide an understanding of typical reports from field monitoring and laboratory tests.

  • Closed system design
  • Problems associated with closed systems
  • Review of available standards and guidance documents
  • Design of water treatment and selection of products
  • Selection of filtration and other equipment
  • Importance of positive pressure and limited makeup 
  • Use and management of glycol
  • Discussion of example water quality reports and what they mean

 

 

ASSESSMENT:

60 minute written exam with 70% pass mark. A resit is possible for anyone failing the exam for an additional fee within 3 months of the original course.

6 CPD points awarded.
